Sometimes I really hate iTunes with a passion, it's not playing anything like random at all.

And I can't install winamp as this OS is apparantly not legit anymore, the technet subscription it was given a key under has run out.

So bah.

Solid Rock

Out here nothin' changes
Not in a hurry anyway
You can feel the endlessness
With the comin' of the light ‘o day
You're talkin' bout a chosen place
You wanna sell it in a marketplace
Well
Well just a minute now

You're standin' on
Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowin' down the line

Right down the line

Well round about the dawn of time
The Dreaming all began
A crowd of people came
Well they were lookin' for their promised land
We're runnin' from the heart of darkness
Searchin' for the heart of light
It was their paradise

Well they were standin' on
Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Were blowin' cold that night

Well they were standin' on the shore one day
Saw the white sails in the sun
Wasn't long before they felt the sting
White man, white law, white gun
Don't tell me that it's justified
Cause somewhere
Someone lied
Yeah, well someone lied
Someone lied
Genocide
Well someone lied

And now you're standin' on
Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowin' down the line

Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowin' down the line

Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowin' down the line
No!

Treaty

Treaty

Well I heard it on the radio
And I saw it on the television
Back in 1988
All those talking politicians
Words are easy, words are cheap
Much cheaper than our priceless land
But promises can disappear
Just like writing in the sand

Treaty Yeah Treaty Now
Treaty Yeah Treaty Now

Nhima Djatpangarri nhima walangwalang -
Nhe Djatpayatpa nhima gaya nhe-
Matjini.... Yakarray - nhe Djat'pa nhe walang - Gumurrtijararrk Gutjuk -

This land was never given up
This land was never bought and sold
The planting of the Union Jack
Never changed our law at all

Now two rivers run their course
Separated for so long
I'm dreaming of a brighter day
When the waters will be one

Treaty Yeah Treaty Now Treaty Yeah Treaty Now
Treaty Yeah Treaty Now Treaty Yeah Traty Now

Nhima djatpa nhe walang
gumurrtjararrk yawirriny Nhe gaya nhe matjini
Gaya nhe matjini Gaya gaya nhe gaya nhe
Matjini walangwalang Nhema djatpa nhe walang - Nhe gumurrtjarrk nhe ya-

Promises - Disappear - Priceless land - Destiny -

Well I heard it on the Radio - And I saw it on the Television
Just like writing in the sand

Treaty Yeah
Treaty Now ...

Djapana

Djapana (Sunset Dreaming)

Djäpana wlutju
Dhurulama ngunhawarrtji djäpana
Warwu galanggarri
Rripa ngunhawarrtji djäpana
Warwu golungnha

Look at the sun
Falling from the sky
And the sunset
Takes my mind
Back to my homeland
Far away
It’s a story
Planted in my mind
It’s so clear
I remember
Oh my, oh my, sunset dreaming

Wo-o-o djäpana
Wo-o-o warwu
Wo-o-o rramani
Wo-o-o galanggarri

Hey, you people
Out there
How come
You ain’t fair
To the people
Of the land
Try my, try my, sunset dreaming

Wo-o-o djäpana
Wo-o-o warwu
Wo-o-o rramani
Wo-o-o galanggarri

Djäppana warwu
Djekulu dhurulangala
Wlutju warwu
Rripa ngunhawarrtji
Dhurulama – dhurulama
Djäpana warwu golungnha

Wo-o-o djäpana
Wo-o-o warwu
Wo-o-o rramani
Wo-o-o galanggarri

Hey, you children
Of the land
Don’t be fooled
By the Balanda ways
It will cause
Sorrow and woe
For our people
And our land

Wo djäpana
Wo warwu
Wo rramani
Wo galanggarri

So live it up
Live it up
Live it up
Live it up
With sunset dreaming

It's fifty years since the plane carrying Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Boppa crashed and three of the shining lights of the emergent rock and roll genre met an untimely end, fifty years and it's still often wondered how it would have gone if the plane hadn't crashed, what new directions/styles/music would someone with the musical talent and brain that Buddy Holly had, come up with.

Would rock music have been substantially different, it's an interesting question.

I can't imagine there being the same impact if a plane crashed today and Kanye West, Ne-Yo and T.I all died, they are all pretty much interchangeable in terms of sound and music styles with Lil Wayne, Akon, etc. etc.

In fact each of them could probably sing the others songs and you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference.

And in other news...

Happy Birthday to my Pengy, [livejournal.com profile] rickybuchanan, mistyhugs [livejournal.com profile] mistystriker and [livejournal.com profile] davidthefox.. I hope you all have a great day.

I'm looking for a copy of Sleepy Tigers by a band apparently called Her Space Holiday (thanks Em!!) OR XoXo Panda OR even Marc Bianchi (depending on which freaking torrent you're looking on!!)

It's the song they use as the music in the Bendigo Bank commercial, and it doesn't appear to exist ANYWHERE on the net.

Oh I like you so very much so much in fact I gotta wake you up
It’s not that I have words to speak
I just wanna see you looking at me
In a way, that states
In an hour when the sun comes up
We’re gonna put on our shoes we’re gonna shake the dust
Open the door with your brand new key
We won’t be afraid of being sweet
to ourselves
Or anybody! anybody else!

Oh I miss you so very much so much in fact i gotta call you up
It’s not that I have news to bring
I just wanna make your telephone ring
So it shows and you know
In a week when I fly back home
We’re gonna jump in bed and be all alone
you’ll make biscuits and I’ll make tea
We’ll curl up close and then fall asleep
To the sound… of no one else no else around

And if Ive learned anything at all
In this short life of mine (it’s this)…
If you hear that joy has come to town
Track it down, take a picture and tape it to your eyes

Oh I love you so very much so much in fact I'm gonna switch it up
I'm gonna take this room that I built for fun
And burn down the walls in front of everyone
So they see, you and me
Dancing in our sleepy clothes
With two big smiles and a bowl of hope!
That we’ll drink down like ginger tea
The heat will help us forget everything
That you and I, that you and I have seen

And if Ive learned anything at all
In this short life of mine (it’s this)…
If you hear that joy has come to town
Track it down, take a picture and tape it to your eyes

Does anyone have it?

It's been a long long time since I've actually liked a lot of the songs that populate the music charts of recent times, and even rarer that I like the number one, last time was Black Fingernails Red Wine by Eskimo Joe, but today I find that I am totally in love with this weeks number one.

Grace Kelly by Mika.

When I heard it I thought 'wow, thats a Queen song I haven't heard before', but it's not Queen, however he IS chanelling Freddie Mercury in the best possible way.

Love love love love it.

Many thank to [livejournal.com profile] takhisis, I'd forgotten ALL about this song, and it was one of favourites when it was released in 1979..

heheh, this wasn't the filmclip we saw on countdown, believe me *I* would have remembered THIS one.

anyways, for your viewing pleasure.

Life At The Outpost: The Skatt Bros: 1979

Canadias answer to the Village People, and funnily enough, no they weren't gay, the film clip was made in much more innocent pre Brokeback Mountain times, and they were just naked sweaty men dancing together.

REALLY.

OMC

How Bizarre

Brother Pele's in the back, sweet Zina's in the front
Cruisin' down the freeway in the hot, hot sun
Suddenly red-blue lights flash us from behind
Loud voice booming, "Please step out onto the line"
Pele preaches words of comfort, Zina just hides her eyes
Policeman taps his shades, "Is that a Chevy '69?"

How bizarre
How bizarre, how bizarre

Destination unknown, as we pull in for some gas
Freshly pasted poster reveals a smile from the past
Elephants and acrobats, lions snakes monkey
Pele speaks "righteous," Sister Zina says "funky"

How bizarre
How bizarre, how bizarre

Ooh, baby (Ooh, baby)
It's making me crazy (It's making me crazy)
Everytime I look around
Everytime I look around (Everytime I look around)
Everytime I look around
It's in my face

Ring master steps out and says "the elephants left town"
People jump and jive, but the clowns have stuck around
TV news and camera, there's choppers in the sky
Marines, police, reporters ask where, for and why
Pele yells, "We're outta here," Zina says, "Right on"
We're making moves and starting grooves before they knew we were gone
Jumped into the Chevy and headed for big lights
Wanna know the rest? Hey, buy the rights...

How bizarre
How bizarre, how bizarre

Ooh, baby (Ooh, baby)
It's making me crazy (It's making me crazy)
Everytime I look around
Everytime I look around (Everytime I look around)
Everytime I look around
It's in my face

One hit wonders in Australia OMC hit the big time with this song, Number one for 5 weeks in 1996...
