boodieI don't want to cast aspersions, but REALLY!!
I had a phone call tonight, from a very dear, old friend, we've known each other since I was around 12 or so, he found computers around the same time I did, about 1984, and he has had a computer on and off ever since then. So he is not what I would call a novice, not even a newbie, I mean he replaced his RAM and installed a new HD, so he's not totally clueless.
However tonight, this phone call.
"Hello Floss" (thats what he calls me)
"Hello XXXXX dear, what can I do for you?"
"I have a question" (these are usually computer related)
"Sure"
"Look, I'm downloading a music video"
"ahuh"
"But I have to go out"
"yes?"
"And I dont want to leave my Monitor on"
"yes?"
"Is it ok to turn my monitor off, it wont shut the computer down will it"
I managed to bite my lip and explain to him, that no, turning of the monitor, wont shut down his computer.
