the power of power

I woke up this morning around 6am with the realisation that something was not quite right, and then I realised, it was FAR too quiet, and dark, ahh, yes, the power was off. I realised a number of interesting fun facts.

Fun Fact 1: Modems/Routers and servers put out an inordinate amount of light

Fun Fact 2: Modems/Routers and servers make a suprising amount of background noise

Fun Fact 3: The abscence of said light and noise actually impinges on my sleeping conciousness

Fun Fact 4: Trying to see whether the meter is working or not, in the pitch black dark without your glasses on is impossible

Fun Fact 5: There a no non electrical sources of news in the house, for when the power is out

Fun Fact 6: If someone blew up the Marine Board building in Hobart, out of an act of misguided terrorism or architectural horror, then I would have no idea what was going on because of lack of said non electrical powered radio

Fun Fact 7: Sticking your head out the window and noting the lack of police sirens and assorted panic actually works as a good barometer of severity of power outage.
