Last night the power went off, from about 11.30ish to almost 2am, thankfully it wasn't off longer or the stuff in my freezer would have started defrosting and I would not have been happy about that, however it did throw up one important thing. I now find it almost impossible to sleep in total dark and silence, for the last twentyfour or so years I have never gone to sleep in a room that did not contain the white noise of a computer or some other electronic device running, or with some background house noise. As for total darkness, I used to love that, way back when I had a set of heavy lined velvet curtains, specifically designed to keep the light OUT, last night the abscence of background light made it very hard to get comfortable enough to sleep.

I feel very weird about that.
