Well, yeah. They wouldn't be engineering things that can fly for groundwork, really. But that still leaves them to be eaten by birds or bats, depending on what time they're in use, unless they're planning to deploy them above 500 feet up, which is the range of most birds most of the time, and bring them in before twilight, when most bats start coming out, since bats fly and feed at altitudes that can be higher than that.
