I have seven versions of the song Hallelujah..

k.d lang
Jeff Buckley
Elisa
John Cale
Leonard Cohen
Rufus Wainwright
Tim Minchin

I think thats a bit of an overkill, however they are all very different, except maybe the John Cale and Rufus Wainwright versions.. I ADORE k.d langs version muchly.. Jeff Buckleys no so much.

I also have ones by Custard (pretty bad) and Dresden Dolls (good but live, and it's a bad recording)

I personally like Jeff Buckley's the best, but I'm just an overall fan of him, and it's also the first version I heard. My Mum loves kd lang and loves her version :)

The most recorded pop song ever is Yesterday by the Beatles - everyone knows that, but I once heard a version where someone overlaid about 25 of the most well-known versions into one huge chorus. It was strangely beautiful. ^ ^

*grin* yeah Chandra is a fan of Jeff Buckley as well and she will insist that his version is the best.. Unlike me, I just dont get him, could never see what was so special, other than the fact that he died, like his father.
