boodieWell, that was fun, for varying degrees and definition of fun, I leave the irony up to you.
I cleaned out my bedside table, it has three drawers, fairly deep drawers and over the last year they have accumulated a few bits and pieces of what can only be described as JUNK.
I hear you asking 'didn't you clean your drawers last year when you moved, wouldn't that have been logical?'
Yes, of course that would have been logical and that's what a sane person would have done, however last year I was not sane, not around moving time, it came so out of the blue and knocked me for a six, I was too busy coming to terms with the fact that I was being kicked out of the house I'd been living in for almost twelve years, and wondering where and how I was going to afford to move and find a rent that wouldn't send me into bankruptcy.
My drawers ended up being tipped into a packing case that was labelled 'Bedroom drawers' without being sorted, and I kinda just tipped them back into the drawers, in a semi-sorted fashion, and they have been that way ever since.
But today in response to an unknown urge I girded my loins, grabbed a garbage bag as well as my paper shredder and went to town on the first set, I won't bore you with details, but I shredded credit card statements from 2002, I found primary school reports from 1999, old reciepts for appliances long dead, some stuff that belonged to my Mum that i'd been keeping, simply because I couldn't bear to throw them away, some very very tacky jewellery, and my old watch that I love because it was an 18th birthday present from my Mum.
And tommorrow I get to do the same thing to the other set of drawers, the first lot took me just over three hours, I wore my poor paper shredder out, I'll give it a night to recover.
My drawers look amazingly EMPTY, and I have one whole empty drawer.
