Nov. 3rd, 2003 02:04 pmI don't want to seem paranoid or nothing, but I'm beginning to think that someone in this street has it in for me... This morning there was a knock at the door, and it was an inspector from the City Council, with an abatement order, for those of you who don't know what an abatement order is, it's an official notice that you have done something that goes agaisnt council rules, and the council want you to either stop what you're doing, or fix what is wrong.
My abatement notice was for... never guess, go on... bet you cant.... THE GRASS!!
Someone had complained to the council that my grass was a fire hazard and that I was contributing to the fire hazard by not have it cut to a 'reasonable' length..
Of course this was the same grass that has now been cut twice in the past 2 weeks.. Apparantly the complaint was made 6 weeks ago, and the council came and inspected the grass, and decided the complaint was justified and arrived today to issue the abatement notice.
Of course I took great delight in pointing out to him that the grass had been cut and that he was very welcome to have a look, which he did.
I know the man from the council was only doing his job, what annoys me AGAIN, is that whoever made the complaint didn't come and see me first and ask me about the grass, or if it worried them that much, offer to come and cut the bloody stuff.
