Meh... hollow victory. Because of the legal loopholes and the "man and woman" definition of marraige, the marraiges will become VOID because the licenses were obtained illegally and therefore their wedding never happened.

from a legal standpoint you do, when you are denied access to your partners assets, super, next of kin, all of that sort of thing, simply because you are of the same gender as your partner, you need the legality. Thats all they want is to be recognised that the love and committment they share with their partner is as VALID as that of a married or de facto heterosexual couple.
which can be contested in court by dissaffected family members, a will wont allow you to be someones next of kin in a hospital situation when decisions have to be made.
