Aug. 25th, 2004 01:48 pman hour on the phone to IBM.. they insist i need to update my bios.. and then reinstall and then test again..
bios updated, installing happening as we speak..
if this works, then this proves that whoever did the 'service' on my laptop, did NOT download and try to install any programs..
if the problem was the bios, and they didnt update it, then the same fault would have still been there.
I only got angry once this morning, when the tech started talking to me in that voice he probably reserves for morons and female callers/
UPDATE
Its now just after 3.30pm.. the bios was installed, windows installed again, the file they insisted i download to check downloaded and gee guess what IT DIDN'T WORK handed the whole schemozzle over to my friend Paul, whom i note didnt get patronised once, he went through the whole saga, and then they said... go on..guess what.. "they'd ring back"
UPDATE 2
Its now 5pm, they just rang back, and Paul went through the whole rigmarole AGAIN with another new tech, and she's going to get onto the repair place and find out exactly what it was they did, what they tested, and why they said it worked.. waiting for another call tommorrow...
