As those you know who read this regularly, my washing machine is borked, worse than borked, well I thought I'd found a way out of it, one of the rental companies here has a special on, so I thought I'd apply to rent a washing machine for six months while I save up for a new one.
They turned me down.
I got turned down because;
A) I'm a student, if i'd been a Uni student that would have been ok, but because i'm an 'other' sort of student, I don't have a chance.
B) I don't have a drivers licence or a passport for ID, no matter that I have enough ID to open up a new bank account and apply for social security benefits from the govt, all that ID isn't enough to get me a washing machine for six months.
C) I've only lived here for eight months, and somehow the fact that I was at my last place for eleven plus years is suspicious, even though I explained that the landlord sold the house and I had to move.
and
D) I don't have three 'quality local' referees that aren't family.
All that for washing machine that costs $20 a month to rent, and they turned me down.
