Dear friendslist;

Please do not be ticking post comments to either facebook or twitter when you comment on my posts, especially ones that are Flocked, I do THAT for a reason. I like keeping my three things separate and this move on LJs part is a bit of a dick one, I sincerely hope they implement an OPT out option very soon.

In this I fully agree, LJ sucks.

My whole journal is friends only so I went through the list o' settings and locked it down as much as possible =)

Unfortunately, from what I have read, if someone replies to a comment, even if the entry is FL, their text and anything they may have quoted from you, will be included in the post, so it doesn't matter how locked down it is, if they quote you, those bits will be included.

That's the dick move.

Doh! That's defiantly killing what it means to have posts as friends only. The user's journal settings should trump things like that, not the other way around. Isn't there somewhere in the LJ site to respond to "features" like this?
You know, it would not surprise me if LJ decides that if you don't want the feature on your journal, you would have to "upgrade" your account or something evil like that.

people are 'responding' en masse it seems in the LJ news community, where there's something like over 4000 comments with about 98% of them all going "HELL NO"

whether they listen or not remains to be seen.

I still think someone should be fired just for implementing such a stupid "feature".

I'm sure it SOUNDED like a good idea, really, and with some better implementation it could have been a great idea, like making it entirely OPT in, and making it so flocked entries cannot be posted at all.
