While waiting for various newsites to update their information about the appalling Earthquake and resultant Tsunamis around the world, I noticed thankfully that Charlie Sheen had finally stopped trending on Twitter, about time too, stop giving him more amunition to fuel his delusions.
Which led me some other thoughts about Mr Sheen, when the shit first hit the fan- my immediate thought was that Charlie was sick of doing Two and A Half Men and wanted out of his contract, but he didn't want to quit as he had just renegotiated his contract for some horrendous amount of money, and WB would sue the pants of him for breaking it.
So this was his way of getting around that clause, do enough weird shit that WB and CBS couldn't overlook, I mean they managed to overlook his many DV arrests, drunken binges, drug fuelled shenanigans, it would take something seriously BAD to get the studios to act.
Then after listening to his rants and shameless OTT ramblings, I began to wonder if Charlie was not indeed going through a manic phase and well on his way to a full blown psychotic break, and that perhaps he needed someone who was NOT a sychophant toadie to whisk him away to get some proper help.
Now I am not so sure, I am beginning to suspect that this is all just a whopping big act, that at some point in the next few weeks Charlie will turn up on Letterman, Conan or Oprah and go 'TA-DA!! Fooled you all'.
However I suspect that Charlie coming out and saying it was his Joaquim Phoenix moment will not be enough for him to ever recover enough support to get back to working on TV, there are only so many times that you can burn your bridges and then expect people to just forgive and forget.
Mel Gibson is a case in point, to some extent people were willing to overlook his persistent drunk driving, then his anti-semetic rants, as well as his pointed observations on all manner of things, but then he assault ed his pregnant wife, and then again after she'd had the babies, his alcohol fuelled phone rage was also made public.
Now I suspect that Mel will find it hard to make another movie, that isn't produced by his own production company, people won't want to be seen working with him, Charlie Sheen is no Mel Gibson, if Mel can be shunned then you can be sure that Charlie will be too.
Coming out and say 'hey you guys I was just KIDDING, I love you all dearly, it was just a jolly jape' won't be enough to convince anyone, especially the people on the recieving end of his 'humour'.
The two people I feel sorry for the most in this are Jon Cryer, who by all accounts is a lovely man, he's just had his livelihood ripped out from under him, and I hope that if they don't replace Charlie with either Rob Lowe or Jon Stamos, then he finds new work quickly, and Angus T Jones, who is that rare commodity in Hollywood, a teenage star who doesn't feel the need to make a spectacle of himself.
Now that that has sucessfully occupied me for five minutes, I can forget all about the tosser that is Charlie Sheen and go back to the more important things in life, like cleaning the kitty litter box, sweeping the floors and plucking my nose hairs.
