boodieWhy do people spend so much time watching shows on TV that they admit that they despise.
And why do these sort of people feel the need to comment that they dislike said TV shows in forums or journals designed for fans of those shows.
Shows like Australian and American Idol, Big Brother and Survivor seem to attract people like that in droves, all ready and willing to say 'This show sucks; but yes I spent the hour(s) watching it, just so I can comment on the various people in it in disparaging terms'
I dislike The Simpsons, so you won't see me sitting down to watch the hour it's on TV here, if I wanted to do something unpleasant for an hour I'd clean the house and bathe the cats, nor will you see me joining a Simpsons forum simply so I can say 'This show sucks camel shit through a straw'.
I can find something better to do with my hour than subject myself to watching something I dont like, simply so I can be an arsehole about it.

Date: 2007-05-09 10:48 pm (UTC)That doesn't work for me, I loathe most TV and only ever watch Spicks and Specks, Rockwiz and The Chaser's War On Everything. Even then if I miss it, it's no big deal. My in-laws will leave someone's place they are visiting, to be home in time to watch certain TV shows... Usually things that I would consider trash, too :P
