Bloody hell... went to check my bank balance and i'm $13 OVERDRAWN... Minor panic rapidly turns into MAJOR panic, bills need to be paid, check deposits and withrdrawals.. turns out a $300 deposit has just gone bye-byes.. On the phone to the bank and they don't know whats happened, so they're going to get back to me, so atm theres only the $14 I have in my wallet between me and no money whatsoever.. And they charged me a $30 fee for being overdrawn.. I bloody well better get THAT back as well...

This sucks.. they better find my money... or else I am screwed, really really REALLY screwed.

*Update*

They found my money, didn't bother to ring and let me know, only cos I checked my balance did I know.. BUT they haven't refunded me the money they charged me for being overdrawn, it was $30, now to some people thats not a lot of money but to me it is, thats my phone bill, or my electricity for the week, or half my grocery money for the week, when you're on a tight budget $30 is a big hole to have to cover.

oh, I'd go in and fuss over the $30. or raise a fuss on the phone. I think $30 is a big deal no matter how well off you are & you shouldn't overlook it.

I plan on trying again today, the person I spoke to yesterday implied that it was my fault for not realising that money hadn't shown up in the credit side of my account sooner.

If thats the official line then I'm sunk, I wasn't aware I had to check my balance every single day, because I know when bills are due to be paid, and I know how much money goes in and out, after all, thats what electronic banking was supposed to do, make it easier for people to keep track of their money. Thats why they closed all the branches down.

I swear this is where the banks make a good portion of their money. Unfortunately a lot of people are too busy and just let it slide.

I got charged $30 late fee on a credit card that was paid a week before the due date in full. I called them and they couldn't explain it, so credited me for the $30, but you gotta wonder how many people just shrug and pay their card off without looking.

Write to the bank and complain, point out it was entirely no fault of your own for going overdrawn. There was recently a big stink in the UK over banks making these charges, and generally they will refund them if you compain because $30 to them is nothing and they don't want to lose a customer. I had the same thing happen to me when I went £10 OD and got charged £30, even tho I had a cheque for £150 a day away from clearing, and I got it back no problem with just a letter.

I've tried that, the ruling was that *I* should have realised that the money wasn't there sooner and done something about it. So now when money is due in I plan to check my bank account at least three times a day.
