Dear Arthur,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your magnificent contribution to the world of SF, one of the first SF books I ever read was Childhoods End. and that created such an impression on me that over the next ten or so years I read just about everything you had ever written, I tracked down short stories in compliation books, got special orders in from the library, just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Of course Arthur dear, even you had some misses, Ghost From The Grand Banks, not so good, the last Odyssey novel, bad idea, writing with others was a somewhat hit and miss affair, Gentry Lee, Greg Benford, etc etc.
But even in spite of that, your brilliant mind gave us lasting works of stunning depth and breadth, rest in peace Arthur C. Clarke, the true master of SF.
