In the living years
Apr. 26th, 2008 02:29 pmMy Father rang me on thursday, to see how I was an stuff, and to tell me that my Aunt Judy had gotten married again, in JANUARY, he was a little bit peeved that no one had bothered to let us know, I would have sent a card, but sadly ever since my Nan died, I haven't seen my Aunts or cousins at all, I invited them all to come around over Christmas, but no one turned up, I find that very sad.
However we were talking about bits and pieces and he asked me how my studies were going, I said that I'd had to do six assignments, and I passed five and had to resubmit the sixth, but that it was about Pavlov and Skinner and conditioning, subjects which make my brain want to crawl out my ears with BOREDOM.. which is probably why I failed that part (grin).
And he said, out of the blue that he 'was sure that I'd manage it because I was always the smart one of the family'.
Wow
That was the first compliment I can ever remember my father giving me.
Of course it would have been nicer 35 odd years ago when I desperately wanted him to approve of me and to say something, ANYTHING, nice about me.
Better late than never I guess.
And he said he loved me again.
The apocalypse is approaching.

Date: 2008-04-26 06:29 am (UTC)I wish I could make my dad proud. Admittedly, I'd have to let him somewhat into my life for him to have a chance. I should consider that.

Date: 2008-04-27 05:37 am (UTC)Ha. Kidding. Good news is good to hear. Even if the good new precedes apocalypse.
On another note, nice to see ya again, Sera. You do show up in the damnedest places.
