I read the LJ of George R.R Martin, I've read some of his books and I liked his Dragon ones, I like reading his blog because he talks not only about how he writes, why he writes, but the other aspects of his life as well, it makes him seem more like a friend than a world famous author, he seems like a nice man, so THIS pisses me of enormously.

What makes people think that they have the right to DEMAND anything from him, yes he writes some of your favourite books, yes it's been a while since he's written a sequel to your fave book, but that does not give you the right to be rude, or mean or in some cases downright abusive to him, he doesn't write for YOU he writes for himself, he's allowed you to share in what he's written, but in the end he writes it for himself, because he HAS to, not because he feels like he has to placate the lot of you.

Grow up, leave the man alone, in peace so that he can finish this book that apparently you will die over if you don't get to read it yesterday!

I hadn't read any of his books yet, though I think we own all of them - my brother has been nagging me to :) I can't believe that he's getting that response, either - it's idiotic to expect someone that depends on creativity to be able to just sit and focus ONLY on what you want them to. I certainly can't get anything to come from using that tactic. And if he gets true enjoyment out of whatever he's doing besides writing (even football!) then for gawdz sake, let him have it. He's a human being and allowed such.

Yah, that bit really got me, apparantly the poor man is NOT allowed to have any other life than that of being chained to his typewriter or keyboard...
