Tried the new vegemite just then for lunch, ermm, I don't know if it's because I'm still not feeling well, but there was no taste, it was very bland. Smooth and bland, I couldn't taste either the vegemite or the cream cheese, it was just, MEH.

I didn't know it was for sale. I couldn't find any yesterday. Perhaps it's only for sale in Tasmania.

Here's what the Crikey test crew thought of it..

Crikey roadtest: New Vegemite
July 7, 2009 - 4:45 pm, by Ruth Brown

http://blogs.crikey.com.au/crikey/2009/07/07/crikey-roadtest-new-vegemite/

Here are the team’s views, in one sentence each:

First Dog: I can’t believe I ate the whole thing.

Journalist Eleri Harris: I’d happily eat it again... in fact I WILL eat it again, as I still have one left

Intern Sophie Tarr: Creepy - cheese should be solid; that’s not cheese, it’s.... cheese sludge.

Web Editor Jane Nethercote: Good mouth-feel

Production Co-ordinator Leigh Josey: It was shit - and I’m a Vegemite connoisseur!

Deputy Editor Sophie Black: What’s the point?

Journalist Ruth Brown: UnAustralian.

Matt Preston: Not enough lift in the puff, but because I like you, I swallowed it.

As the product doesn’t actually have a name yet, each pack contains ablank space for you to enter your own suggestion. First Dog took theinitiative:

It has no discernible vegemite taste, you probably could eat the whole jar and not realise it.

bland.

I quite like it. It's a very subtle Vegemite taste.

BTW: You might like to reassure Ricky Buchanan that you are alive !

I have revised my opinion a little, I must have been suffering from a lack of taste cause by being sick, because I had some yesterday and it wasn't too bad, I dont think I'll be ditching normal vegemite in favour of it though.
