My laptop is suffering from an intermittent failure, it just shuts down for no reason...

This is not good.

I don't even have the money to even begin to think about getting a new one, I can't afford a second hand one.

I still have one essay to do, I also have exams to study for.

WTF am I supposed to do.

ETA: Paul pulled it apart, cleaned things out and noticed that when he started it up again the lights were flashing an error message, according to Dell the error meant that one of my RAM sticks was either not seated properly or dying. Took out offending RAM and it seems to be working ok again.

Will keep a close eye on it, but now I'm back down to 1gb ram and everything is sooooo slow 8)

Can buy more RAM if needed.

*hugs.*

Could be blue-screening. Best way to tell is to turn off automatically restart in system properties.

Have you updated any drivers recently?

My suggestion is check for excess heat.

And sacrifice a rubber chicken.

Back in my day, 1GB of RAM was more then I ever needed.

Heck, my laptop has only 512MB. And it's only a little terribly slow.

Good job on reading the error message though :)

I'd hate to try and run PS on 512k... It runs so slowly on 1gb as it is..

I definitely need a 2gb stick.
