Why do I Do it...
Feb. 26th, 2002 11:36 pmSometimes I wonder why I bother, I really do, right I have a limited budget, this means that we eat a lot of rice, pasta, sausages and mince, cos they're cheap and fairly filling.. I dunno about you but I get sick of trying to figure out 101 ways to make mince more interesting, so I like to try diffferent things as the budget allows.
When i went shopping last week, Tuna was on special, a big tin, so I brought that, with the idea of making a tuna mornay, so today I slaved over a hot stove making a lumpless bechamel sauce, cooking potatoes, draining and semi mashing tuna and fighting off my cats for the tuna and the empty tin
Into my mornay went potatoes, some herbs, spices, chopped up tomatoes and it tasted bloody good, I like tuna, it adds flavour to things
I topped off the mornay with a topping of cheese and breadcrumbs, into over for 20 mins, the toipping was a gorgeous dark brown, i cooked rice, served it up..
The youngest ate two mouthfuls.
