a story...
May. 3rd, 2002 09:36 pmOn the lj cut below is a story I have been working on for bloody ever it seems, it is an erotic story, but as yet there is not a smidgin of erotica (read sex) in it, and I just wanna know should I just shelve the bloody thing, or keep on trying to do something with it.
It is tentatively called Deuce, and is of course copyrighted to moi..
Natasha sat with her head in her hands, listening as the noises in the changeroom slowly receded around her, as the trainers and players made their way out to their respective games, she imagined that her trainer and manager were around somewhere, probably waiting outside, after she had told them to leave her alone, she had to be alone to contemplate what had just happened to her, for the first time, since she had been 14, she had slipped out of the top fifty players on the tournament circuit.
She had to make it past the third round to keep her current ranking, and she hadn't, for a while there she thought she had a chance, as her opponent had been very tentative, and carrying an injury as well, but even that wasn't enough, she just couldn't play well enough anymore, and it was depressing, she felt stupid and clumsy and ugly.
And she felt like crying and chucking it all away.
As she sat there she heard a slight noise from the other room, not wanting to face anyone she got up quickly and walked towards the shower rooms, only to come face to face with her opponent, she steeled herself to be polite, to congratulate her once again, when she noticed that there were traces of tears on her face.
'Is there something the matter?'
Her accent sounded very pronounced in her own ears, Candi, her opponent, nodded her head.
'I've just come back from my specialist, he's recommended that I withdraw from the tournament, before I damage my ankle even more, I told my Father that I wasn't well enough to play today, but he started yelling at me, and when he does that, he gets so angry that I get scared and it's easier to give in, he's going to be very angry at me now, he says I give in to easily, but my ankle really hurts now, he'll start yelling at me again, telling me I'm not as good as Brandi, and I'll never be as good as Brandi if I give in all the time'
The she started crying again, Natasha didn't quite know what to do, she'd heard the rumours of course that the sisters' father was a bit of martinet, who ruled the girls with an iron fist, and on a couple of occasions he'd been banned from tournaments because of comments that he'd made, but rumours were one thing, to hear Candi say that she was actually scared of her father was another thing entirely.
All Natasha could think of to do was to put an arm around Candi and lead her to the seats, she rummaged in her bag and pulled out some tissues and handed them to her.
'Perhaps you could get your specialist to talk to your father, it might sound better coming from him, what about your Mother, could she not, how you say, intercede for you'
Candi sniffed, then tried to smile,
'Thanks, Mum is just as bad as Dad sometimes, they both want us to win so much that sometimes, winning is everything, no matter how it's done, Dad will talk to my specialist and he'll be made to see my Fathers point of view and he'll give me an injection for the pain, and i'll have to play, thats how it always goes. My specialist doesn't want to lose me as a client, and he knows that there are plenty of more Doctors out there who will be only too willing to see it from my Fathers point of view.'
Natasha was stunned, this was wrong, very wrong, she'd been lucky, her parents had told her it was her choice all the way, that if she wanted to do something else then it was up to her, they'd back her no matter what, thats how it should be, not this forced draconian regime, somehow all of a sudden it didn't seem so bad that she'd slipped out of the top 50, if she wanted it she could get back there, and if she didn't then there was other things she could do. But being forced to play, out of fear, and while injured, this was something else entirely. All of a sudden she felt very sorry for not only Candi, but Brandi as well.
Without stopping to think of what she was doing, Natasha slipped her arm back around Candi, and kissed her gently on the cheek,
'I am sorry to hear this, is there anything I can do to help, someone I can speak to for you, perhaps the PA's officer?. What about your sister, is there some way that she can help?'
Natasha began to have a glimmering of an idea, she looked at Candi,
'There are rumours of course in any sport, but one of the rumours is that your Father decides who will win if you and Brandi end up playing together, are you not a lower ranking than Brandi, right now, and if she wins this tournament will she not becomes Number One ranked tennis player?'
Candi nodded her head,
'Father manipulates that as well, he has some complex formula he uses in his head, all about money earnt and points and publicity value, however Brandi is also carrying an injury, and if she wins her next round, then we will be up agaisnt one another, it's her turn to win, and that will take her through to the final, but I'm not sure if her knee could cope with that'
Natasha smiled,
'Then this is what we will do, you will go to see your father, tell him that you're feeling just fine and that you are looking forward to coming up agaisnt Brandi, and isn't it a pity about her knee playing up, and that if only she could have a rest then the Number One ranking would be hers, then you get your sister to exxagerate a little about her knee, and you mark my words your father will be doing some thinking, and all of a sudden your ankle will flare up and 'it's a big pity, but you'll have to withdraw' and you'll get a chance to rest your ankle, your sister will get a chance to rest her knee, and nobody will be yelled at.'
Candi looked at Natasha,
'How did you get so sneaky, thats just the sort of thing my Father would do, anything to win, however it all depends on whether Brandi wins her match'
Natasha listened closely to the noise outside,
'It sounds like she did, so you better run along and see your Father, come back and tell me how it all went'
Candi looked at Natasha, 'Thanks we owe you one'
It took Candi a couple of more hours to find Natasha again, but once the press conferences were over, she had some free time, regretfully and with great reluctance it seemed to the press she had announced that the reoccurance of an old ankle inury flaring up had made it impossible for her to keep on playing in this tournament, but that she was sure that her Sister, would carry the family hopes, all the way through to the final and the Number One Ranking.
The press had thought that she had been very gracious and had taken it all very well, however they didn't know that inside she was cheering at the top of her lungs, and so was her Sister, it had all been Natashas plan and it had worked, and she had to find Natasha and thank her again.
Finally she ran Natasha to earth in the players Spa room, she went over and hugged her, and grinned at her
'Worked like a charm, all Brandi had to do was say that her knee was giving her trouble and that she didn't think it would hold out for both matches, and Dad practically fell over himself in a hurry to get hold of my specialist and the tournament director, it was all arranged in 30 minutes, I hope I didn't give myself away at the press conferences, I was trying to look solemn and resigned, when all I wanted to do was smile like crazy'.
Natasha hugged Candi back,
'I saw you on the TV, you were just fine, you will have to remember this for perhaps future occasions, I have been watching you both play, even though Brandi has the higher ranking, I think you are almost both evenly matched in talent, Brandi seems to want to win just that little bit more than you do, when you decide that you want to win as much, then Brandi had better watch out, because you will be on her heels all the way.'
Candi was startled, all her life her Parents had always subtly let her know that her sister was just that little bit better than she was, that she should give way to Brandi all the time, perhaps it was just attitude. She shook her head, something to think about later. She hugged Natasha again and kissed her once more, grabbed her hands and looked into her eyes,
'I owe you, lots, if there is anything I can do, please let me know'
Natasha looked down, aware all of a sudden of the warmth of Candis' hands in her own, and the softness of her skin against her, and how soft her lips had felt on her face, she started to say something, but the words wouldn't come out, then she felt a blush travelling up her face, she looked up, straight into Candi's eyes
