if you could...
Jul. 12th, 2002 09:44 pmpick one talent, what would it be..
I've always wanted to either a) be able to sing properly, b) be able to draw or c) be able to play a musical instrument properly.
of the three I'm not sure which one I woud like, and which of my talents that I have now would I give up to be able to have one of those talents
what about you?

Date: 2002-07-12 05:11 pm (UTC)As fast as life seems to pass us by, there is plenty of time to develop different skills...
I understand how work and family get in the way; perhaps you'll have to wait before you do have the freedom to persue goals. However, that doesn't mean that it's impossible to grasp somthing that's desired...
I guess 'Sacrafice' is the word of the day.
I feel trapped by responsibility and money often enough... I'd love to do so many things. I want to sing, dance and play the drums... I'd like to model... I'd like to be a DJ... I also want to be sociable; one of those lucky few guys who could go up to a group of people and say "hey, how bout an orgy." ; )
I want to be a martial artist... Beautiful... A sniper... I'd love to be likeable and I'd like to be loved.
I don't have the time and money for 90% of that stuff... So, I do what I can. Bodybuilding, and socialising... Drumming... Amature DJing. Hey, I even sing in the shower... ^_^
To answer the question... There isn't any one skill I'd want above all else; and I'm pretty happy with what I have now.
Anway... Sorry for the rant! : )
Havn't seen you for a while...
BTW: I finally opened a live journal and you're already on my friends list. Keep in touch! : )
Re: Hmmm..?
Date: 2002-07-13 04:18 am (UTC)unfortunately the three skills I want the most, ie singing, drawing etc, require something I dont have, and thats talent, you can practice all you want, but beyond a certain skill level attained, you cant go any further without talent.
all the practicing in the world wont give me a good singing voice, i might be able to hold a tune if i practice long enough, but i'll never have a good voice, same with drawing, i can practice all I want, but if i dont have talent it wont be worthwhile.
believe me I know this 8-)

Date: 2002-07-13 04:28 am (UTC)since LJ is being a pain in the butt
I've always wanted to be able to stand up and sing..full volume..without everybody in a five mile radius screaming and covering their ears, while pleading for someone to make the noise go away.....ah well...I end up being the one who's mouth is moving, but nothings coming out..see...I /do/ care about humanity!
Oh I agree totally, everytime I so much as open my mouth to sing, my children and my cats look at me with such pain in their eyes and promptly leave the room
does wonders for my ego 8-)

Date: 2002-07-13 05:00 am (UTC)Practice, boo. At least, that's all I needed for piano. Drawing is an entirely different thing (and needs much more practice).
I personally don't believe there's a limit, but that's me. *snuggles*
