It is my Grandmothers 87th birthday on Thursday, and once again I was bereft of ideas on what to get her, after all what do you get someone who is 87, and who has just about everything she needs, bar the things I can't afford to buy her, like a smaller house, a live in housekeeper/nurse, etc etc, so I took the cowards way out, I sent her some flowers via an online service.

She likes flowers, I know she likes chocolates, but because she has diabetes and a few other things wrong with her, chocolates are a no-no anymore, she doesnt need any more jewellery, she doesn't wear what she has already, and she always says that she doesn't need more stuff that she will have to include in her will, so she got flowers, 1 dozen pretty pink roses in a vase.

It's amazing, for the last 5 years we've been sure that she wouldn't make it her next birthday, and each year she manages to suprise us, she's a tough old bird and I love her dearly.

Well she has that, and I let her know...it just gets worse every year on what to get her, next comes christmas, aaarghh but this is much better than the alternative of not having to buy a present.

Unfortnately it's not just the sugar, it's the other ingredients in chocolate that dont help, Nan has IBS as well and cocoa plays havoc with that.
