actually, after speaking some more with my sister, it seems she is almost 20, and lives with her aunt, who is somewhat sanguine about the whole thing..
At the risk of sounding heartless, that's a slightly better scenario than the worst-case I was picturing. This is two adults or near-adults, and hopefully with a little support and guidance they'll be just fine.
Heh. I'm a firm believer in the power of helpless, adorable babies to instill a sense of responsibility in parents. It still works more often than not, and hopefully it'll work this time. :)
