My glasses frames broke today, snapped clean off, no hope in hell of fixing them, so at the moment I am wearing a pair of glasses with the lenses at least 4 or 5 iterations of prescriptions old. I cant afford to get new frames as well as lenses, so I will just have to get new lenses put in these ones.

A pair of new glasses for me costs anywhere between $250 and $300, and the frames are the cheap part, the lot that just broke cost $220 and that was 3 years ago, and the frames only cost $55.

AAARGGHHHHHHHH

You ought to be able to have your lenses put in new frames, I'm sure they'll have something the same shape or close enough to it to fit them. I've had that done a couple of times. *hugs.*

Unfortunately not, my lenses can only fit certain types of frames, and there just isnt a wide range to chose from, and I needed new lenses anyway, I just didnt plan on getting them right at this moment

I find glasses are just a pain. As soon as I can afford it I'm going to get the laser surgery done. Not only to make life easier, but more so to save a hell of a lot of money on buying new lenses and frames all the time (not so much in recent years, my eyes have finally stopped growing). I may get a loan out, it'd be cheaper than all those years of buying new glasses put together.

I'd like to have laser surgery done in the abstract, but I dunno about it in reality

Unfortunately, it isn't very strong. I can braze stuff at school, though =-) Well, I don't know if I'd be allowed, but...

I wonder how safe it is to send magnesium in the mail...

It's a major pain, hey? I was very lucky last time mine needed replacing as I know a couple that work at one of those optical stores. I am hoping like heck they remember me, cos I need new ones now and glasses here in the UK will run to the tune of £400. Without the eye test.

Hope it works out not too expensive.

I'm taking them with me to the optometrists tommorrow and throw myself on his mercy, after all he's been my optometrist since I was 13, thats a hell of a lot of glasses, I hope there will be something he can do.. fingers crossed
